Béla Fleck and Brooklyn Rider
Brooklyn Rider is known for its work with Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road project, its commitment to existing quartet literature, and the creation of new works. From its appearances at venues such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center to a recent tour in China, Brooklyn Rider is credited with “recreating the 300-year old form of the string quartet as a vital and creative 21st-century ensemble” (NPR). Béla Fleck is considered the world’s premier banjo player, has won 14 Grammy Awards and 30 nominations, and virtually reinvented the sound and image of the banjo. The program is anchored by Night Flight On Water, Fleck’s newly composed quintet for banjo and string quartet, as well as other classical works.
