Compagnie Jant-Bi was founded in 1998 with the aim of becoming a creative cradle for dancers from the whole of Africa. Combining movement and music from traditional dance forms with contemporary themes and dynamic physical virtuosity, Jant-Bi takes African dance in captivating new directions. The New York Times characterized the company’s work as “powerfully direct, emotionally authentic.” Jant-Bi will perform Waxtaan, a new piece that explores African politics with cheeky, insightful humor. We’re thrilled to open the World Dance season with Compagnie Jant-Bi’s Meany Hall debut.

Traffic Alert

There is a Husky football game at 7 PM on Saturday, Oct 9, 2010. Traffic around the campus and in the Central Parking Garage will be especially heavy both before and after the Compagnie Jant-Bi performance scheduled for 8 PM at Meany Hall.

There will be a limited number of complimentary spots in the Central Parking Garage set aside for UW World Series customers. Place this card on your dashboard so Garage staff will know you are attending the Jant-Bi event. And plan to arrive early to find a place to park. (Please note: Space is limited. This card does not guarantee you a space in the Garage. Also please be aware that football parking rates will be in force at other campus parking lots.)

We strongly encourage carpooling or the use of public transportation, if it is convenient for you.
