“The whole ensemble were as impressive in their technique as they were appealing in their enthusiasm.” —ballet.co.uk
One of the Netherlands’ premier dance companies, Introdans debuts in the U.S. with a tour of Heavenly, a retrospective journey that includes three works showcasing the company’s eclectic and exciting repertory. Messiah, created by Ed Wubbe and set to music by Handel, is a ballet of swirling energy and delicate duets that brings new meaning to the eighteenth century oratorio. Fünf Gedichte, created by Nils Christe, is a lyrical piece set to five songs by Richard Wagner that creates a poetic suggestion of the transition from life to death. Completing the program is Paradise? by Brazilian choreographer Gisela Rocha, displaying the organized chaos of a rowdy but elegant hip-hop battle.
